If you like a certain company’s products, friend them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter. Some free offers will occasionally float down the pipeline. If you don’t mind of dings and cleanup, free stuff on Craigslist can be useful. Typically, you won’t find complete pieces like a sofa or dining set. Excess building materials and leftover firewood are common. Just be ready to transport it yourself.

While you can’t get earn official college credentials for free, many universities like Harvard, Stanford and M.I.T. offer free online classes that will enable you to print out a certificate of completion at the end. The accumulated knowledge and sense of self-satisfaction are valuable.
